Locust look like grasshopper's, and crickets and their allies. They belong's from the same kingdom and order.  It is very dangerous for crop.  It damage crop's leaves and flower's.  It attack in group on the crop.

In India their are 4 type's of locust [tidda]

1.  Desert locust
2.  Migratory locust
3.  Bombay locust
4.  Tree locust



Fact -:
# Desert locust is most destructive                      migratory pest in the world.
# They fly up to 150 km in a day.
# They eat their own weight daily.
# Targeting farmer's crop and vegetation           used to feed  live stock.
# This is the worst desert locust invasion in     somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya.
# In this three country people are already       coping with serve acute food scarcity.
# A very small swarm eat as much in one         day as about 35,000 people eat.

Locust  has strong power of fight. They differ from ordinary grasshopper's in
their ability to change behaviour and form swarms that can migrate easily over large distance.
In India [UP, MP, RAJ] desert locust are generally attack on the crop in the may and june.


How to stop them :-
1.  Mechanical method -: digging trenches,                                             beating and burning.
2.  Baiting. -: scattering locust food with                                   insecticide.
3.  Dusting -: Applying fine dust with                                     insecticide pest.


Locust use in research and the study of zoology in the classroom. They are also edible insects, they have been eaten throughout history.
