His contribution to science and public policy. The role of dr. in science and public policy for more than 65 years is unapproachable. His contribution to strengthen agriculture and improve food security is tremendous.

As a young scientist at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in the 1960s, Dr.  Swaminathan learned of Dr.  Borlaug's newly developed Mexican dwarf wheat variety and invited Dr.  Borlaug to India.

Dwarf variety and high yeild variety(HYV) developed by dr.Norman E. Borloug but in India this variety introduced by M.S Swaminathan and created an environment of green revolution all over India and Pakistan.

M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was  founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
